Obituary:
James Eugene Rawls, age 88, of Crossett, AR, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett, AR. He was born March 24, 1930, in Crossett, AR, a son of the late James G. Rawls and Daisy Callaway Rawls. Gene was a retired freight accountant for the Ashley, Drew & Northern Railroad, a member of First Baptist Church in Crossett, and a graduate of Hermitage High School. He loved spending time with his family and friends at the Jersey Hunting Club where he had served as president for 33 years. Survivors are his wife Carolyn Joyce Smith Rawls whom he married January 2, 1948, in Hermitage, AR. One son James Carroll Rawls and spouse Fonda of Hampton, AR. One daughter Paula Rawls of Little Rock, AR. One brother Grady Rawls and spouse Joann of Warren, AR. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held Saturday, September 22, at Frazerís Funeral Home in Warren, AR, with Rev. Jamie Staley officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and Rev. Jamie Staley was soloist. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery at Jersey, AR. Active pallbearers were Campbell Wilkerson, Danny Hallmark, Elton Dumars, Johnny Seach, Donnie Stroud, and Mike Young. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Daniels, L.C. Cooper, Doug Fitzgerald, Ronnie Ford, and Roy Robicheaux. A special thanks to Ashley County Medical Center and Ashley County Family Home Health. Memorials are preferred to Shady Grove Cemetery, 208 Bradley 1 South, Jersey, AR, 71651.
