Bobby W. Johnson, age 86, of Warren, AR, died Tuesday, June 19, at Chapel Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born February 13, 1932, in Warren, AR, a son of the late Oscar Plez Johnson and Ouida Quimby Johnson. On June 13, 1954, he was married to Peggy Vestal Johnson, in the First Baptist Church, Warren, by Rev. Geral Trussell, they were the first couple married in that sanctuary. Peggy preceded him in death on July 5, 2007. Bobby was a graduate of Smackover High School, attended L.S.U., playing football for the Tigers and was a graduate of Arkansas A&M (now University of Arkansas at Monticello). He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a paratrooper in the Korean War. He retired as a high school football coach serving for 21 years in the Earle, Camden and Warren Public School Systems. He also was a retired owner-operator of Johnson Hardware, a member and deacon of First Baptist Church. Survivors are one son Rob Johnson and spouse Dana of Warren, AR; one daughter Penney Phifer of Camden, AR; three grandchildren Hunter Wayne Johnson and spouse Katie of Little Rock, AR, Brittney Nicole Johnson of El Dorado, AR, and Jamie Taylor Furman of Camden, AR; two great-grandchildren. Funeral service was 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Stanley officiating. Mary Anne Hill was the pianist and soloist was Katie Johnson. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Leonard Hicks, Andrew Hicks, Billy Potts Smith, Tommy Larance, Tommy Arnold, and Steve Woodson. Honorary pallbearers were Lynn White, Thomas Morgan, James E. Smith, John Dodson, Bill Taylor, Rev. Jim Bales, Guy Shaha, Jr, and Deacons of First Baptist Church. A special thanks to his caregivers Barbara House, Renee Blanner, El Doris Thomas, staff members of hospice and Chapel Woods.
