Obituary:
Aber A. Gannaway, Jr., age 91, of Warren, AR, passed away on July 1. He was born on January 15, 1926, in Warren to the late Aber A. Gannaway, Sr. and Gladys Berryman Gannaway. He was preceded in death by sister Alma Jean Young. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Ora Mae Gavin Gannaway; three children: David Gannaway (Gail), Paul Gannaway (Becky) and Janie Runkle (Keith); six grandchildren: Jeremy Gannaway, Laura McClanahan (Steven), Amy Hoffmann (Brett), Gracen Stogsdill (David), Bailey Runkle and Andrew Runkle; and six great-grandchildren: Hayes and Carter McClanahan, Eli and Emerson Stogsdill, and Reid and Avery Hoffmann. He loved the church and served as a Deacon Emeritus, a dedicated Sunday School teacher for 66 years and on numerous church committees. Aber enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in January, 1944, and was training to be a B-24 gunner when World War II ended. He attained the rank of sergeant and spent the remainder of his time in the service in Italy serving in a variety of capacities during the post-war demobilization and equipment disposal process. Following his discharge in December, 1947, he returned to Warren and worked as the service manager at Blankenship Motor Company for 16 years. He then worked as the shop and equipment superintendent at Moro, Inc. in Warren for 40 years. He was a volunteer fireman for 25 years, a member of the American Legion and had a God-given talent for being able to repair most anything. In his later years, he loved to talk about the people he had known and the changes he had seen in Warren during his 91 years. Funeral service was 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Steve Lasiter officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and soloist was Rev. Steve Lasiter.
