Joe David Simmons, age 96, of Banks, AR, died Friday, March 24, at Benton, AR. Born April 26, 1920, in Banks, AR, a son of the late David H. Simmons and Gracie Erwin Simmons he was a retired chemical plant foreman at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, a member of Wagnon United Methodist Church, and a World War II Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois Lavender Simmons who died December 7, 1977. Survivors are one son Joe Don Simmons and spouse Sheila of Benton, AR. One daughter Gertie Mae Johnson of Santa Cruz, CA. Four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral service was 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Marty Reep and Rev. Tim McClellan officiating. Linda Barrett was organist. Alicia Mann and David Mann played and sang. Burial was in Williams Cemetery by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Tony Jarvis, Mark Reppond, David Gorman, David Mann, Larry Reppond, Scotty Jarvis, and Daniel Jarvis.
