John Henry Smith

John Henry Smith, age 78, of Hilo, Ark. passed away Tuesday, June 22, at home. He was born November 14, 1931 at Warren, Arkansas a son of the late Thomas Elvin Smith and Ella Josephine Smith. He was a graduate of Warren High School, served in the Arkansas National Guard, was a retired manager of Affiliated Foods, Hermitage, was a deacon and member of Union Hill Baptist Church, a member of the Hermitage Lions Club and a charter member of the Hilo Hunting Club. Surviving is his wife Eva Rae Wright Smith whom he married on January 12, 1952; a son Johnny Ray “Butch” Smith, Bastrop, La; 2 grandchildren Terri Lynn Bird and spouse Joe and William Clint Smith and spouse Stormy all of Bastrop, La; 7 great grandchildren Donovan Trey Goyne, Ethan Cole Goyne, William Tyler Smith, Zachary Lane Smith, Jeremy Bird, Jessica Bird and Landon Powell. He was also preceded in death by two brothers Thomas Winford Smith and William Earl Smith and 4 sisters Connie Eloise Morgan, Ercell Virginia Rogers, Nancy Evelyn Barnes and Lorraine Smith. Funeral services were 2:00pm Saturday, June 26, at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Janice Sullivan was organist and Jerry Morgan was soloist. Burial was in Hilo Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Charles Patton, Lewis Givens, Glenn Beard, Bodie Cooper, Don Posey, Lynn Wright, Scott Wright and Larry Harrod.
