Effie Pearl Hales, age 92, of Warren, Arkansas died Monday, December 20, at JRMC, Pine Bluff. She was born November 13, 1912 in Cleveland County, Arkansas a daughter of the late William Floyd Smith and Hixie Elizabeth Johnson Smith. She was a member of Saline Baptist Church, a homemaker and farmer. She married Thomas Edison Hales on August 15, 1942 at Pine Bluff, Ark. and he died May 28, 1985. Surviving is a son Thomas Earl Hale, White Hall, Ark; a daughter Doris Jankowski, Warren, Ark; a brother Havis Smith, Warren, Ark; 5 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren. 2 brothers Melvin Smith and Alvin Smith and a sister Lena Miles also preceded her in death. Funeral Services were10:00am Wednesday, December 22, at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. David Cripps, Rev. James Decanter and Rev. Victor Hunter officiating. Janice Sullivan was organist. Burial in was Adams Singer Cemetery near Warren by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Sheriff William “Butch” Belin, Wayne Wesson, Jimmy Wright, Jerry Reithhaum, Kenny Pruitt and Gary Green. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Reynolds, Dr. Kerry Pennington and Steven Smith.
