Anne Haley

Anne Haley, age 92, of Little Rock, Arkansas formerly of Warren, Ark. died Sunday, February 28, at Parkway Village Health Center. She was born December 27, 1917 in Ingalls, Arkansas the only daughter of Dr. Marvin Thacker Crow, MD and Ella Johnson Crow. She received her education in the Warren Public School System, attended Hendrix College, Conway, Ark. and graduated from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge,, La. where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. During World War II she was a nurses aid at England General Hospital, Atlantic City, N.J. She worked as an airline travel agent in Memphis, Tenn. and Little Rock, Arkansas before returning to Warren to live with her widowed father and teach at the Warren Elementary School where she retired. She was especially proud of having the opportunity to tutor the late Rusty Doss. She married attorney John Thomas Haley on October 14, 1957. On October 14, 2007, the Haley’s celebrated their 50h wedding anniversary at Parkway Village in Little Rock. Mr. Haley died January 15, 2008. Mrs. Haley was a sustaining member of the Warren Junior Auxiliary, a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Warren where she served as a Sunday school teacher and President of the Presbyterian Women Circle. Surviving are two nieces Kitty Crow Rubenstein and spouse Bill, Pine Bluff, Ark. and Susan Crow Todd and spouse Bobby, Conyers, Georgia; two nephews Jim Crow, Charleston, S. C. and Tom Crow and spouse Nancy, Sherwood, Ark; a godchild Maribeth M. Frazer, Warren, Ark; 7 great nephews and 1 great niece. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers Dr. Marvin Bruce Crow, MD and Dr. Merl Thacker Crow, MD. Funeral services were 1:00pm Wednesday, March 3, at graveside, Oakland Cemetery and memorial services were 1:30pm Wednesday, March 3, at First Presbyterian Church, Warren with Rev. Art Fogarty and Rev. Dr. John Mabry officiating. Organist was Bill Fox and violinist was Eric Haward. Active pallbearers were Bruce Harris, David Harris, Ben Harris, Jeff Crow, John Crow and Andrew Whitley. A reception followed the church service. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred First Presbyterian Church, 210 East Church Street, Warren, Arkansas 71671. Condolences may be left online guestbook

When I was in college, she and Tom gave me his telescope which they knew I had enjoyed using as a teen. I called "Miss Anne" about three years ago and was amazed that she sounded like a 30 year old on the phone.
