Arys Lindsey Gavin

Arys Lindsey Gavin, age 95, of Pansy, AR. died Wednesday, February 17th at Wagnon Place Nursing Home. She was born February 20, 1914 in Cleveland County AR., a daughter of the late Jim Lindsey and Gertrude Shelby Lindsey. She was a life long school teacher with 45 years of service teaching in Bradley County, Cleveland County and Jefferson County. She was a member of the Bethal #2 Missionary Baptist Church of Herbine and a graduate of Arkansas A&M College in Monticello. On April 8, 1934 she married John Dee Gavin and he passed away April 30, 1993. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Joe Lindsey,; Sisters, Demple Taylor, Mable Tucker, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ragsdale, and a great-grandson, Nathan Shawhan Survivors are a daughter Mary Ellen Nesbitt and spouse Robert, Pansy, AR. A granddaughter Madonna Fox and spouse Dave, Bunker, Mo.; a great-granddaughter, Chavaun Parker and spouse Jeff, Bunker Mo. 5 great-great-grandchildren Jeremy, Kayla, Gavin, Justin and Hunter Parker all of Bunker, Mo. She has numerous nieces and nephews and friends whom she cherished. Funeral services were 1:30pm Saturday, February 20th at Bethal #2 Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Wade Petty officiating. Music was provided by Bethel #2 Missionary Baptist Church Choir. Burial was in Prosperity Cemetery by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Mac Gavin, Mark Mercer, Scott Grice, Joey Mercer, Keith Mercer, Ray Gavin, Mark Young and Dr. Rocky Lindsey.
